Tree roots are the classic case. Roots find a small crack or an open joint, get inside the line, and keep growing until they fill it — and they are the reason a line blocks in the same place every spring.

Why we inspect before jetting
Jetting is safe in most modern plumbing when it is done by someone who has looked first. High-pressure water in a pipe that is already cracked, corroded or partly collapsed can make a bad line worse.
So the camera goes in before the jetter does. If the pipe is not sound enough to take it, jetting is the wrong service and the line needs repair instead — so inspection comes before cleaning.

What is hydro jetting, and how does it work?

Is hydro jetting safe for all types of pipes?
It is safe for most modern plumbing when performed by a professional who has inspected the pipe first. We run a camera before jetting to confirm the line is sound — high-pressure water in an already cracked or corroded pipe can make the problem worse, and in that case the line needs repair, not cleaning.
Do I need hydro jetting or just drain cleaning?
