Are flushable wipes safe for my drains and sewer line?
Wipes labeled flushable can still stay intact after flushing instead of breaking apart like toilet paper. They can catch in pipes, contribute to blockages and clog sewage pumps. Put wipes in the trash, including baby wipes and personal wipes. Flush only human waste and toilet paper. If several fixtures drain slowly or sewage backs up, call for professional drain and sewer service.
What are the signs of a sewer line problem?
Drains that clog repeatedly, gurgling from the pipes when another fixture runs, sewage odours inside or in the yard, several fixtures draining slowly at once, or a patch of lawn that is soggy or unusually green. Those point at a blockage, a break or tree roots in the main line rather than at any one fixture.
How is a sewer line inspected or diagnosed?
With a camera. We run a video inspection down the line to see the fault directly, which tells us what it is and exactly where it is. That is the difference between repairing a known break and digging up a yard hoping to find one.
Can a sewer line be replaced without digging up my yard?
Often, but not always. Trenchless methods repair or replace through existing access points and leave the yard intact, which is why we check for it first. A line that has fully collapsed, or one that has moved out of alignment, still has to be excavated — and we will tell you which of the two you have after the camera goes down.
What causes a drain to clog repeatedly?
Grease is the usual answer in a kitchen line, hair in a bathroom line, and tree roots in a main sewer line. Roots are the one homeowners rarely suspect: they find the smallest joint gap, and once inside they keep growing. That is the failure that comes back every few months until the line itself is dealt with.
